Best foursome game ever: WOLF For those that have never played this or don't know how it works let me explain. Hole 1 is a par 4. Player A tees off on hole 1. If Player A bombs his drive straight down the middle and thinks he has a good chance to beat the other players If he hits a bad shot Once player B hits he has the choice to pick him or wait for C.
Once player C has hit, player A can't go back and choose player B. He must either take C or wait for D. But if he waits for D to hit and player D hits the worst shot of the bunch After you choose your partner or go WOLF the hole becomes match play with dots. Holes carry over obviously and on the second hole it's player B's turn to tee off first and choose.
Extremely fun game. I made the mistake of playing with a 3some and I was having a terrible day so I was basically playing against 2 people the whole day. Needless to say I lost my ass. We play wolf a lot but also have "Lone Wolf" were you call it before you tee off and get 3 dots if you win but loose 9 dots if the other players win the hole. There is also the option to "PIG" the wolf if the Wolf hit a bad shot and you crush it down the middle then you are going wolf for 2 dots but again can loose 6.
Just played a new game that appeared kinda dumb but as the game continued was pretty fun and caused some errant teeballs Two on left vs two on right. Rotation of play is predetermined and rotates thru Each hole the predetermined captain hits first. Then based on position of balls to pin teams are determined. Plays a lot like WOLF just isn't chosen teams its based on ball position.
When first guy blows it OB left You'd be amazed how far right guys will go Was good fun. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Rounders April 8, April 8, Hey fellas, our big golf trip is coming up in May and the organizer asked me to help out with the gambling side of it. I'm really just brainstorming ideas here. We are not talking large dollar amounts here, just a little extra to keep some interest.
We play 5 rounds of golf, over 3 days. The handicaps range from 5 to We have 16 golfers. Last year we had a skins game during one of the rounds, closet to the pin and long drives for another, and a 4 man scramble winner take all. Any ideas for me.
 More sharing options Iowa Hawkeye April 8, MiniMoe April 9, April 9, You can do a blind draw two man best ball, or combined score.
You can make your groups and blind draw for teams when you get finished. Another idea is make fair teams and play 3 balls for each group, and skins. Quota is also a good game. The quota starts at 36 and you try to make your points. Scoring is as follows. Eagle 5 points, birdie 3 points, par two points, bogey, 1 point, double bogey or worse 0 points.
You subtract your handicap from 36 to find how many points you have to make. If you are a 10, then you have to make 26 points. The winner is the person that scored the most points over their quota. Have fun. Rounders April 9, Quota is a good game, I will have to look into that one.
Any others. DavidFehertysBike April 9, The group of 15 or so guys i play off and on with took a trip together in february. We do this thing we call "the junk" where everyone throws in 10 bucks or whatever amount you want before the start of the round. We then play what amounts to a 15 man skins game.
Only pars or better can stand. The pot is evenly divided amoung all of the skins won. We had an entire pot go to one skin and one guy last year like bucks i think last year, so you can get a really big payoff if you have one great hole. Titleist D2 9. Jay-Bird April 9, Player with most points wins.
Flag Tournament - with handicaps in force, players play golf until they've exceeded the number over par per their handicap. Betting odds for 2015 masters golf tournament The player who plays the most holes wins. Individual with most points wins, Team with most points wins. Handicapped Blind 9-hole Tournament - Play all 18, then take the scores from only 9 of those holes - use the same 9 for all players.
Any nine, doesn't have to be in order. Two winners -Low net wins, Low gross wins. Low net wins. RC April 9, For a foursome that wants to play two against two for each hole, the game called Dayton is hard to beat for tension. First decide on a point value.
Here's why: Dayton takes each hole as a bet. You hit your drive and the two to the left play the two to the right. Every hole determines the 2 man teams for that hole. You use the flag stick to sight which two are playing the other two. If it gets difficult to determine left and right sight from the flag stick back to the tee box.
You play the hole medal, counting individual strokes. Then you use the formula of putting the two person team's score together so that the low score comes first if you are par or better, but if you don't have a par, the high score goes first. Example: Par is 4. One team scores a 4 and a 6, the other team has a 5 and a 6.
Concatenating the scores gives a 46 and a 65 remember the low score comes first if you have a par or better. You substract the difference and that is the points for each member of the team. So each member of the 46 team gets 19 points and each member of the 65 team gets points. You play all eighteen holes and add the point totals for each person, and because you wind up being paired with a different person on any given hole, the totals are all different but should add to zero.
Dayton adds great pressure on those 3 foot putts that could make a 65 turn into a 46 if you make it. Some play where the maximum high score is limited to a double bogey -- to keep it a bit more friendly. It is an exciting format and mixes people up well for a fun afternoon, and by choosing the point value you can keep the game from getting "out of hand.
MiniMoe April 10, April 10, What you call dayton we call 1,2,3,4. Each hole partners change based on where tee shots end up. Golf betting games do not relate to score From left to right, first hole, 1,3 and 2,4 are partners. Second hole, 1,4 and 2,3 are partners. We also take turns and call what numbers are partners each hole, so sometimes 1,2 and 3,4 can be partners on several holes.
We play. Par skins pay 2. Add another twist So if they had a 46 and we won with a birdie, their score becomes It's a fun, mean game. If both players in a team score 4, the score for the team is not 8 but If one scores 3 and the other 5, the team score is 35 and so on, the lower of the two scores always being placed first. This scoring system clearly allows for some big margins to open up.
It would only need the players from the first team to miss short putts and both take 5, and the margin would become As a minor concession to the more cautious gambler, if one member of a team hits double figures the normal placement of the scores is reversed, so that for example if the players shoot 4 and 10, their score is , not At a dollar a point, you can see how losses can mount alarmingly as the game progresses, but of course, you can agree to play for quarters, dimes, nickels or anything else a point as you wish.
This is a game for four individuals who take turns to be the Wolf for a hole. This order of play is determined on the first tee box and remains throughout the round, but the Wolf is always the last to hit their tee ball. The incentive to do this is that by winning the hole a Lone Wolf 1 vs.
If the Wolf and his partner lose the hole, the other team gets 3 points each. If any other player beats a Lone Wolf, each player receives a point except the Lone Wolf. The object of the game is to score the most points during the round, gambling on the outcome as desired.
And the best way to do this, of course, is to win holes as a Lone Wolf when you have the opportunity. It takes confidence and a cool nerve to do this, but fans of the game cite the opportunity to develop these qualities as a great reason for playing it. Read our full article for more details on how to play the Wolf golf game. This only works with four players but it is a lot of fun as it keeps you invested in every hole, especially those middle six where some golfers can tune out.
Bets can be placed on the outcome of each match and on the aggregate of the three. Each player Is aiming to be on the winning side in at least two of the three matches. If you lose all three matches, it can usually get expensive. This is an imaginative game that is great for allowing weaker players and even beginners an opportunity to take points and dollars from more experienced competitors.
Bingo — the first player to hit the green, whether in regulation or not. Bango — the player closest to the pin after all balls are on the green. With so many point-scoring opportunities, the game can generate considerable enthusiasm. But more introverted players should be reassured that it is not necessary, or at more exclusive clubs even permissible, to shout out the words themselves.
The great thing about this game is that the total score on a hole is irrelevant to the winning of points. This helps players with a weaker tee to the green game can still compete. If their final shot to the green is just a short chip shot, they may still have a good chance of being closest to the pin and scoring Bango.
Likewise, any player may from time to time see a longish putt drop in and score Bongo. For this reason, the game is a popular choice for association and society days, but it can also be played alongside more conventional stroke and match play formats if desired. The rules for this game are simple which is nice because some of the most popular ones require a lot of math and post-round calculations.
As you can tell, most of these betting methods are geared toward two or four players. This is not so much a game in its own right, but a way of describing a number of minor or side bets which can be added to any conventional golfing contest or to all the other games. The dot game is a way to keep track of all the action Iike a bookie in Vegas. These may be simple and obvious, such as points or dollars won for birdie, eagle, longest drive, sand saves, or closest to the pin on par 3 holes.
Points can also be lost for bogey, double bogey, out of bounds, etc. But many more bets have been devised, and perhaps made more appealing by the creative and intriguing names by which they are known. For more, make sure to read our full article on the Dots Game in Golf.
Another fun way to keep your betting interesting is the quota system. This system features a set amount of money you can win before heading to the first box. I love this game because it rewards consistent play with pars and really rewards if you make birdies or even an eagle. Plus, the rules are simple. Are you looking for a betting game that emphasizes putting more than the total score?
To make it interesting, you can also create a progression system so three putts later in the round cost more money. If you keep doubling, this can add up. Also, make sure the pot amounts and rules are clear before teeing off so everyone is on the same page. If you have a regular foursome, it can make gambling and golfing even more fun.
An almost infinite variety of forfeits have also been devised to penalize other errors such as hitting out of bounds, hitting houses and even air shots. As with every game mentioned, make sure the rules and payouts are clear for any newcomers as well. This betting system is ideal for hardcore gamblers who are ready to win big or lose big.
Overall, this is a great game for golfers who have a lot of ups and downs and also those who just love gambling on the links. When you break it down, it gets pretty fun too. Think about it like this; if you make back-to-back birdies without banking, you will have earned the equivalent of making 18 bogeys earned at 5 points each.
Bonus: Read our post on how to play the banker golf betting game. But in case you get the impression that all golfers are inveterate gamblers, addicted to risking large sums on essentially random events, remember that many of these games are in reality no more than imaginative scoring systems. Golf has so many other formats than just straight up stroke play:.

The best of them allows weaker players to enjoy an element of competition and level the playing field in ways which the conventional handicapping system does not always achieve. And of course, there is no need for any of these games to be played for high stakes.
You can bet a sleeve of balls, drinks, mildly embarrassing forfeits or there may be no bets at all if the players prefer. All that really matters is that all participants are comfortable with both the game and the stakes they are playing for.
