Brian Harman holds a five-shot lead entering the weekend at The st Open, but his lead on the odds boards is a bit narrower than that. Harman is obviously the heavy favorite, sitting at at DraftKings Sportsbook heading into the final 18 holes of the harman odds to win open. Rahm comes. According to the latest Open Championship odds from Caesars Sportsbook, Harman is the + favorite (risk $ to win $), with Fleetwood. The Data Golf live model still only gave Rahm about a 9% chance to win as tournament leader Brian Harman started the back nine at on.
Rahm and Viktor Hovland will tee off in the penultimate group from six and seven shots back, respectively. They'll all need some help from the leader, but weather conditions look to be conducive to low scoring, which could help them put pressure on Harman if he plays a bit more conservatively.
We will have a tough call into the final round, but I'll be rooting for just a little bit of drama at the very least. Strokes Gained gives bettors, DFS players and fans way more detail on how a golfer has truly played by measuring each shot in relation to the rest of the field.
Using the millions of data points it collects, the Tour calculates how many shots on average it takes a player to get the ball in the hole from every distance and situation. Every situation in golf is different. Strokes Gained measures how players perform relative to the situation.
This is how I will lay things out for the final round at The Open. I get it and if you want some skin in the game, that's the best edge you're likely to find going into the final round, but it's not something I'll be playing Sunday. I'll instead hold tight with some nice buys we made into Saturday and hope they prevail if Harman falters.
Saturday was the second straight round in which Young led the field by more than a shot in SG: Tee-to-Green and was also the class of the field on approach. He continues to gain strokes on the field in every metric tee-to-green and if it weren't for the run Harman has been on, Young would be the talk of the tournament. He's my favorite to have a chance to put pressure on Harman as the intensity ramps up in the final round of the last major of the season.
I'm not taking any more stands in the outright market, but will find a couple of ways to get exposure on Max Homa. He's had a couple of nice weeks and is really motivated to find a top finish in a major as he's admittedly struggled in these events thus far in his career. Homa started slow Saturday and mentioned being a bit rattled early alongside the pro-Rory McIlroy crowd.
Whatever anxiety he was feeling below the surface was resolved with the best putting in the field. The depth of the talent and its capability blows away comparable considerations and the forces required to match in other sports. Rahm was seeking a second major title in to go with the Masters.
He checked up in a two-way tie for sixth. Harman stays five clear as Rahm makes his move. Fitzpatrick leaves brother in the shade. Harman odds to win open Rahm's stunning 63 heaps pressure on Harman. Who's saying what at the Open Championship. Unheralded Harman soars to five-shot lead at Open. Thomas 'obviously' concerned about Ryder Cup status.
